Would a clockwork hopper work?

Not like a qloader, I know a force feed would be fairly easy to do but would deplete the energy in the spring to quickly for it to be any use. So I started thinking about an agitated one, something like a revi.

The bit I'm stuck on is could you have a switch that would switch the wind up motor on that would be sensitive enough that a ball in the feedneck would switch the motor off? when there isn't a ball there the switch flips up and the wind up motor goes until another ball presses the switch down again.

I don't know enough about these things to know if this idea would work or where to find a wind up motor with such a switch, I would have thought a cheap kids toy but I can't seem to find any that have a switch.

Any ideas anyone? Just been pondering another way to get a non electric hopper with a decent feed rate.....

It can do up to 30 winds, and with 5 slots in the paddle, a max of 150.

Thanks people - so forcefeed wouldn't deplete the energy to quickly to be practical

I would think you could count it as more efficient than agitation, since you can agitate and still not feed a ball. It may take more force though. Hmm.

Anyway, if you wanted a easy mech controlled agitation mechanism, I would look at music boxes. The rate of rotation is close and they often have a little air friction governor that you might be able to apply to the feed stack. Turn the little air beater vertical, pushing down on the balls. Probably have trouble with the lag time if you leave the gears the same ratio as a music box though. Combination force feeder/agitator.

Put it in a clear case too.
