Freaking a Zeus G2

Would it be possible to Freak bore a Zeus G2? The barrel is built into the body so my thought is you'd bore it so that the lip of the insert sits flush with where the barrel extension screws in, then thread on the extension to hold the Freak in place. I believe the barrel tube is long enough to fit between the extension and the bolt when it's forward.

Note: I have ZERO machining knowledge so I have no idea if this is loonytown raving. Nor would I be attempting it myself. Ever. I like having fingers.

This is one I've been curious about myself ... but for a Delta68 ... insert retention would be an issue with my plan though (although there is enough front meat to cocker thread it or retention).

looking forward to hearing what the machinst types have to say on the issue.

Yeah, the G2 body has the distinct advantage of having a thread-on collar/barrel. Now, I'm assuming that its ID is tighter than the Freak's OD and that may not be the case, but at least there's something there to work with.

That's what I thought the problem was going to be. I guess no one owns a super-gigantic drill press or anything like that... ?

Just cause Stanchy can't, or is unwilling to do it doesn't mean it can't be done. From his perspective, I completely understand not wanting to take a risk like that on someone else's gun.

I drilled an Ariakon ACP 2.0 body out and press-fitted a .689 freak insert into it a few years ago, and that was before I really knew anything about machining (for the record I still don't know much just a lot more than I did then). I'm quite positive someone could do it but it wouldn't come without risks.

Yeah, I'm picking up a parts Overlord next weekend so whoever wanted to step up could have a practice body. I've reached out to a different airsmith to that end...

Yeah, I have a Delta body coming as well ... Barrel boring and some valve chamber mods were my sole reason for picking it up.

It can be done but the part needs to be fixed and the bit, would be the part in motion. The real concern is ensuring the the bit is centered on the bore on all physical axes. Getting centered on the radius is easy enough, the hard part is ensuring center along the length ...

MaD made me a freak bored Brass barrel for one of my PT Extremes a year back. Worked good, but the PTX has an external barrel ... So much simpler.
I've also though of a thin wall sleeve for the stock bore would be a good solution to most pistols huge bore's as well.
