Post re-threading a Tac-One body

Hi all!

I recently bought a Tac-One body that accepts Angel threaded feednecks.

What's driving me batty is the lack of options for aftermarket, no-rise, "tool-free" clamping feednecks in Angel threading.

I can get good ones like the RPG sub-zero no-rise but they require an allen-wrench to tighten and I'd like something that clamps by hand using a lever.

Has anyone re-threaded a marker for different feednecks? If so, any suggestions as to what thread to use? I was thinking "Ion" but I'm concerned the Ion is going to fade to obscurity and I'll wind up where I started.

The Invert Mini seems to use Ion/ICD threading though so perhaps this has become the standard.

Regards,
C.J.

I would stray away from the ION threading. Basically, if smart parts keeps it up, they are going to go bankrupt. I was hoping in the 6 months or so, that I have been gone, that they would have... I heard a rumor stating that they were on the verge, just before I left... They must have changed their ways, and are back to the "good customer support" that they had in the very beginning.

I think that angel threading is great! I would keep that, and keep looking! There are a lot of great feed necks available for the angel! Look at the CCM low rise, or No rise, they have a lever, I think. If the neck has an allen bolt, get another bolt, and a lever like those, from a bike shop. I have done it many times, and it works great!

I prefere Ego necks...

The neck does'nt thread into the breech...it actually clamps onto a small neck. In your situation you could cut the lower portion off of a angel neck, thread it into the body and then clamp the Ego neck onto it. Or have a short section of aluminum angel threaded and go that route.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the novel ideas guys!

I have two "mid-rise" feed-necks here I could cut down and experiment with. I'm liking the Ego clamping neck idea since those are pretty common. It also preserves the threading should I find an Angel threaded neck that I like.

FYI..

CCM make a little lever for their feed necks now.
