Giving a Micromag a new face.

I purchased this Micromag that needed a little TLC from bigbthebenji.

It seems to have been painted with thick white and green paint at some point. I gave it a Coca Cola soak and used a wire brush to clean off the paint. Did a wet sanding and washed it in mineral spirits. Prepped it for paint...

After the painting, I attached a new front grip from AGD and a benchmark double trigger frame I got from minimag03.

Had a team member add hard airlines and I added a level 10 kit and an iFit adaptor and ended up with:

I've never tried that. How well does it work? I don't think it would matter for the stripping action, but diet coke is less sticky.

It worked really well. In the past, Diet Coke hasn't worked as well. I soaked the parts overnight, brushed them, repeat. I took a couple sessions, but it was less toxic and could be done in the house. There were not any on soft parts in the bath to be affected, I think o-rings wouldn't do well.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Its great to see that you did not strip the anno off of the single frame. Someone out there has a wild iguana with a missing/mismatched frame...
Nice restoration!
Pat.

Tell me why I had to be a powerslave.
I don't wanna die, I'm a god, why can't I live on?
When the Life Giver dies, all around is laid waste.
And in my last hour,
I'm a slave to the power of death.

Unfortunately, I did have to cut the trigger guard to get at the front grip screw. It was stripped out and I couldn't get it out with any of the other tricks I learned.
