We know what the issue is... the bolt forward speed is silly fast.

I would think a ball ramp on the top of the bolt would be more effective at preventing ballsack clipping than a pillow bolt.

I think I read the bolt size is .676 or something which is smaller than an average paintball so I doubt it's clipping it's probably really bad blow back or the acceleration of the bolt hitting the next ball in the stack as it comes in the breach.

I'm pretty sure it's mostly the underboring. I hand loaded paint far enough into the barrel that the bolt would make no contact with it - still turned into spray paint.

we're going to be able to test a few theories on why it's causing the balls to explode soon enough. The entire design is problematic, to be kind.

I haven't asked him directly, but I'm guessing similar issues are why nicad never went further with the concept than he did. Doesn't help matters at all that the MQ doesn't like to operate very well at lower pressures

I bet somebody could change the dimensions on the MQ design to handle lower pressures. [^^^]

If an off the shelf option existed for the MQ solenoid, a complete redesign would be a lot easier.
