Its Todd Wilson at Wilson Precision

Wilson Precision Products :: Gunsmithing Work, Custom Choke Tubes, Firearms & Accessories

They do real fire arm stuff mostly but also have CNC services not listed on there site. In house they can only do 15" deep boreing but can out souce it to a spot that limited by your budget

try contacting some one that already makes barrels like J&J. they should have the tooling to make the barrels themselves not sure about the inserts.

I asked about double length inserts at one point for a project, I was planning on using one of Alpha's Inception barrel backs and a standard cocker threaded freak back with a short tip or a Deadly Wind barrel for the project.

The part I am interested in is the small bore inserts that are double length but at this point I am not in the market since they will likely cost far more than I am able to afford right now due to setup costs. If it can be done for a decent price I would be on board again.

If Ty wants to make 9" inserts, I can make 9" inceptions to match. But it will cost a little more than a standard inception, and I'll need at least 10 people who want them.

My equipment could theoretically freak bore to 9". But DOC goes way down... The number of passes required at that depth get to be a major waste of time.

So, its looking like barrel blanks would be about $45 each if I get 5 made. That would basically be any full bore size you want out of 1" aluminum stock, so someone would then do the threaded end and turn the od down. If I had a drawing for cocker threads I could get a price for a complete barrel as well.

haha. you silly boys have a problem with getting it in deep?

my tooling is set up for freak depth, but there is no problem boring from one end of the barrel to the other. length is of no concern.

Where did you locate an Unobtanium boring bar? I want one...

Seriously... The issue becomes flex, in my case, when I go much deeper than 6"... I would be interested in seeing how you overcome this. (Not a challenge, more a professional curiousity )
