Current status:

Back - Alpha434 will make inception barrel backs for $75 with a miniumu order of 10 pieces - See this post

Inserts:
.680 and .682 Stainless steel by RedneckSniper - See this post
.670, .678 and .685 Brass by TyMcNeer - See this post (I will ball park my price at $45 each, though I reserve the right to change that based on how much extra time it takes to get the inserts right.)

I would be willing to generate a spacer to allow the use of "normal" Freak inserts in the 9" Inception back.

That pretty much sums up the status of the project.

the only change is that mine will be either Aluminum or Brass depending on which proves out easier in manufacturing. Stainless is a little more expensive but can be used on a piece by piece basis.

I was under the impression that it only took 8" of controlled bore to get a paintball up to speed, and the point of a replaceable, controlled bore insert was to increase accuracy and efficiency by limiting "blow-by" with a tight paint to barrel match.

Considering the difficulty of deep hole boring without specialized tooling or machinery wouldnt maximizing gains and minimizing material use and effort in manufacturing be important to consider?

So i guess my question is why 9"?

From what research I have looked at, anywhere between 7"-10". I don't think the difference between 8" and 9" will impact anything. That being said, if 8" was that much easier to do (if at all), then that would be fine.

I would suggest that you add an advertisement to your signature, without exceeding the guidlines for size and see if you can help to drum up the last 8 slots needed to have Alpha434 produce the back.

The only size I can not produce, currently is .670 as I am out of stock. I will be rememdying this situation as soon as I get some of my bills paid.
