Whats the best paint to use on plastics? Planning on painting my hopper and not sure what to use. I experimented with normal gloss spray paint but it was meh..

You didn't mention what hopper your painting but I do RC cars and have found out the hard way that the only paint that will stick to polycarbonate bodies is Testor's Pactra.
It is specifically designed to bond to that plastic.
Testor's other model paints do not stick.
Krylon flakes off.
This stuff does not come off and my cars are upside down almost as much as they're rolling.
RCs are painted from the inside but the bodies flex and crash and the Pactra stays on.

So if I were to paint a Halo, thats what I"d use.
They're expesive at $6 a small spray can.
Tamiya makes some in flat colors for their tanks and such.


Find out what your shells are made of and go from there.

Testors tend to work best on most plastics but.

for RC bodies (lexan/polycarbonate) Tamiya has the PS line of spray cans and testors has the pectra line. I'm pretty sure they're both flat/dull finishes as when you paint the inside of a clear body it becomes glossy any ways. That should do the trick for you. The other thing I've recently heard was an alternative to tamiya cans, is dupli color vinyl/fabric paint available it CT etc. It has the extra bonding agent that the RC paint has as well as the flexibility in need as RC bodys flex alot, it might be worth a try, but the selection is much more limited color wise.

I've used the Dupli-color paint on my RCs as well and it does hold up.

As with any painting, prep work is key.
