In progress pics on the Badger rebuild

Started here...

Got to here...

***Currently here: 9/24 update

Got the old powdercoat stripped and the stainless parts look remarkably good. The aluminum parts look remarkably bad. There is lots of sanding/buffing/polishing in my future.

To the best of my knowledge the second serial number "USG 213" indicates that this was a rental at one of the Ultimate Skirmish Game parks either in Hellensburg or Yarramundi, Australia.

I still have to get the internals cleaned up/polished, and I need to finalize my plans for a finish. I'm still waffling over powdercoat or Duracoat.

The design is incredibly simple. I'm impressed with the engineering on this one. It's too bad that the designer is no longer with us. I think that we could have seen great things from this guy.

I'd say powdercoat, you will likely get a higher finish 'build' to hide metal imperfections that may be left (thicker), and it would be restored to more original finishing.

Yeah, but I'm a powdercoat virgin. I really want to do all of this myself too.

yeah and getting equipment and a spare oven or IR lights to do one project is a little much.

I hear the craftsman PC gun is actually nice for the money, and an old toaster over would work, if you want minimal overhead.

Lookin good so far!

I've gotten mine stripped down and partially powder coated.

If you do go powder coating, from what I've read, the IR lamps are tough to regulate. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a cheap toaster oven big enough to hold a 12" barrel. Be sure to pick up an oven thermometer though. Mine takes about 20 minutes cranked to 450 to get the temp up even close to the needed 400.

Can't wait to see some of these cleaned up and restored. I too love the simplicity of the design. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the barrel attachment. I'm planning on having someone whip up a threaded adapter for it one of these days.

Its a gun that came from Australia, from a time when no semi-autos could be imported (they treat paintball guns as firearms.. a lesson to be learned in our own country), one guy stepped up and designed his own. Most were field rentals, and its a nice basic blow forward design.
