Yes I see in your picture you have the newer anti jam guard. The aftermarket ones to put in hoppers that came with the beads are just red and look like this.

I cut off sanded out and reattached the feed elbow. I angled it a little less to the side as well to reduce the sharpness of the bend. I'll test it thoroughly later this morning.

I removed the main spring from my blazer so I can cycle the bolt as fast as I can without having to actually shoot paint. Makes for easier apartment testing with a limited paint supply. Uses less air too.

upon testing it does seem to be feeding reliably. Did chop a couple of balls which was mystifying until I noticed the double feeds. Further inspection showed that my detent is missing the nylon ball. Must of shot it out some time recently. sigh another thing I need to order.

It's good to hear that it's working now but with projects like these it always seems like something comes up that needs to be repaired or bought.

I will never understand the fascination with the side mount loader. It always felt awkward to play with.

You have to get used to the setup but it becomes nice because you remove the hopper as a target and eliminate hopper hits. Now if you do get hit in the hopper you would have either gotten hit in the mask or in the chest anyway. Also instead of switching hands you can just roll the gun on it's side and shoot.
