Custom Azodin Kaos Pump

Hey guys,
I'm embarking on my first major build, A customized AKP. I don't have a lot of money but I do have access to a machine shop, laser engraver, 3-d printer, and various other doodads. Really, this is a summer project to gain some experience. I hope to accomplish 3 things.

Faux Half Block
I want to cut all the unnecessary meat of the top tube of the KP. I do not want to have to make a custom bolt. How far can I go? Ideally, it will look like JCurts and Xlubens work.

Custom Pump Handle
Making a hitman mod compatible manly sized pump handle. Is this as easy as popping a piece of drelin on a lathe? Depending on how long it take I might make a very limited run of these.

Sweet Laser Engraving
Looking for designs, I love Nordic knot work and really anything viking-ish. How do I keep the line thickness constant over all the little bumps in the milling of the AKP? How hard is it to take a design is something like photoshop and make it compatible with the Laser?

Bonus: Cram and jam feed
I could make one with little effort, but how should I mount it to the ion threaded body? I would like to be able to change between Stick feed and hopper.

Thanks!

sounds like fun

faux halfblock

you can go as far forward as the back side of the vert air hole (where the air comes up from the lowertube) if there is an oring on the bolt, i wouldnt go past it...

custom pump handle, delrin works great for handles, metal would be better for the hitman, too much torque on delrin threads and it could break/pull out

cram and jam
sanchez makes a 12rd feedtube that drops directly into the existing feedneck, if you want it to screw into the ion feedneck threading.... its alot more work

Thanks! I'mma start drawing up some designs for the Faux half block, I will post them when i'm done for your input. There is no Oring in my bolt, I have the 2011 ans model, the one with gold accents and a single trigger, I think i'll just make a normal pump handle, after all I have the stock hitman mod. The way the pump works, like a black magic cocker, the sled is held in a slot, would cutting the slot effect anything? should I just cut around it? Thanks

if you cut the slot, your sled might twist, which would create drag

but, if you do a new sled that is a little wider, sits a little tighter, you would eliminate that problem

no oring, so go as far forward as you want, just dont go past the vert air hole :)

I'm amazed at how far forward the air hole is, no wonder Jcurts stuff looks so small. So, I've settled with leaving the slot in and making my cut/cuts about an inch and change into the body a little bit in front of where the bolt pin protrudes.

Laser engraving designs.
Some of my past doodles, most done in .38 and .7 black and red pens. Music listened to (Tristam and Braken- Fight).

Sorry about the Art Binge, Please give me input on the Laser job
I would like to do the art myself, you know, for teh lulz.
If anybody wants me to do any sort of art for them, just PM me. I can assure you it will be quite cheap as I enjoy it and need to build my portfolio.

how about somethin like this?

maybe a little longer (stretched out) and blended to the back of the upper slash?

I like, I like. I feel like the AKP already has some pretty good lines in the milling and a cut like that would compliment them well. See that line that runs from the back of the feed neck to the lower tube? I think I could cut similarly to that except from just in fount of the bolt pin to the lower tube. I saw a custom cocker with real interesting organic looking asymmetrical milling. As a esteemed air smith, what is your take on this. maybe i'll mill one side more that the other... I also love the fast and light look.

i prefer symmetrical, UNLESS its a full blown 2face (1 side is a blank slab, 1 is intense milling)

but thats just my opinion :)

as for the orry i posted..... i thought that kind of milling would look cool on a kp, thats why i posted it ;)

Well it's decided then! I've got a cut similar to the one you posted in mind. Getting in contact with the shop's owner today, with any luck it will be done by the weekend. Any pro tips on how to go about the process. Sorry to ask so many questions, but I know next to nothing about milling, the guy i'm doing it with is the expert, I'm just there to learn.

with the wavy milling...

i used whiteout (great on black guns) to draw what i wanted
then used a 3/4" endmill to rough out the bulk of it
then used a 1" ball endmill to to the rest
i did all the finish work by hand with a 90* sander and buffing wheel :D
