Annodizable Twistlock Body

I made this to prove out an idea I had for a light annodizable classic Mag body. It is a Stretched Minimags style body out of 6061 Aluminum. It was TIG welded together, without warping the tube.

Will the welded areas show up after anodizing? Btw, that is very beautiful. Smooth and fluid.

No, it was welded using an annodizable filler rod.

Nice work. If you care to share, what grade rod in annodizable?

Ego slip over feedneck. It makes it easy and simple.

5356 filler. It was welded using a High Frequency machine set on AC using an foot pedal. It takes plenty of practice not to warp the hell out of the thin wall tube. I have a pile of buggered tube to prove I spent the time practicing.

Very interesting.

I don't know what it took to make that weld, but the weld itself looks relatively heavy.

I imagine every weld has its own warping problems, but you have a lot of possibilities in that process, like sculpting a wide variety of bodies and frames.

The difference between a nice weld and oh crap is the blink of an eye.

I still blink too much.

So, you could weld a breech block on there, like a magazine breech block?

You made it anodizable, so there's more to come?
