Anyone sleeved a 007 barrel?

I happen to have a nice little rem of Ty's .679 brass barrel stock and I'm thinking about shoving it into my new Nellie. Has anyone here done this before? I did a quick search and found Smily had a brass lined Nelson, but there wasn't much said about it. I didn't want to bump an ancient thread just to ask about it, so There it is. I just want to know how you did it, and what possible mistakes to avoid.

The easiest way to use your brass to line a barrel would be to replace the barrel tube.

Looking down the bore, beside the lower spot, it appears there are two spot welds that would be beneath the plates that hold the upper and lower tubes together, and I didn't really want to mess with those as externally, it's in nice condition. What I am considering is indicating it in a four jaw chuck and boring the barrel to a nice press fit. Option #2 would to just skim it until I can get a freak insert in, then cut an o ring groove for retention.

Grind the welds out, replace the bore with .75" id tube, re-weld, and slide in your brass liner.

I have been thin king about doing the same sort of thing with one of my 007, but I was going to take it a little further, bore it for Ifit sizers, and thread it for cocker barrels, that way I could make a little rain cover barrel extension the would thread in and hold the Ifit sizer in the 007.

Unfortunately I am in the process of moving, and will have to wait till the fall to do this.

I will post pic's once I get it done.

Many years ago... (So my memory may be failing) I discovered that the barrel of a Nelspot was soldered/press fit into the body. They did *NOT* bore the hammer/bolt area, and turn the barrel sleeve area from a single piece of stock.

If you heat the entire structure to 800*f or so, the locking compound breaks down, and then it becomes a game of mechanical force to extract the barrel.

I distinctly recall Smiley doing this, but then again I could just be making that up...

Here is Smiley's. I keep measuring and thinking and then coming up with a different idea. Nothing has really worked out yet... Either the tube is too small, the barrel OD is too small at the extension set screws, .020 wall if I bored for freaks. Gah, I'll just let it ride, it will come in time.
