Ebolt project

Quick Update. Picked up this beauty for $37 off ebay. Nothing fancy, but it is a great start.

Here is the new ebolt ram and valve

I stripped and repainted my M98. This is just a primer to protect it for now, but I got all of that sparkly blue off.

No major updates yet, just shaved the trigger guards and started sanding the body. I should have some more pictures up tomorrow.

I now have the sight sanded off, did a little smoothing of the body lines and milled out the inside of the trigger frame to fit the qev's. The solenoid in the picture is probably not the one I am going to use in the end because it is larger than I anticipated, I just wanted to throw it in to show how much space I have made.

I have the cocking slot filled in and I covered the lettering. I haven't decided if I want to mill off the letters that say "Tippmann Model 98" yet, but I am leaning towards it and then stenciling in something that says "Ebolt 98". Just an Idea right now.

Still needs a little body work before I can paint, but it's getting there.

To my knowledge, nobody ever offered such an item for sale.

Tippmann and Psychoballistics offered upgrade kits that included the electronics, the solenoid, an LPR, and a one-way ram (spring return). Some folks modified these kits (by replacing the electronics, and modifying the ram) to operate with a pneumatic return. "Mahonri85" (on this forum) Modified an existing ram for his E-bolt build.

'Natural Newb' (over on the Tippmann forums) designed and built himself a two-way ram and maybe one or two others but, I believe he's been out of paintball for a pretty long time.

Eric at http://procarbine.homestead.com makes them for $95. I found him the other day. I should have posted it in here so others know about it.

Now I just need to figure out which board would be the best to use. I am thinking about eventually installing eyes but probably not at first, so something with eyes that can easily be programmed to not use them would be best. Any suggestions there?

I used a DM4/5/C Predator board from The Angle Guy, worked well both with and without eyes.

It looks like the site is down now. I wonder if he's using Natural Newb's design (he posted it to the internet way back when).

These was a guy on model98 and PBN that was doing it way back when...Macgyver or something like that I think.

I'll have to look but I think I have NN's cad files from when he posted them.

If his website is down you can talk to Eric at buckeyevs@yahoo.com it might take him a day or two to respond, but he can make the 2 way rams for $95. I haven't ordered one yet because I don't have the extra cash right now, but I will eventually.

I have been trying to figure out some of the CAD programs to design my own valve to go along with my ebolt project, but so far they have made me feel pretty dumb.

Ebolt project

I used a scenario dreams UTB for my E-Bolt project. Buy the eyes with the board to save on shipping though. I bought them separately, and paid $8 shipping for the $2 eyes. DOH!

I could design a valve and ram if you'd like, I have a little bit of experience with AutoCAD.

I actually have a design that I think will work, I am just unsure of how to turn it into a 3D image. We have a lathe and mill at work, and if I can convince one of the guys in the machine shop to help me out I should be able to get a prototype made there. After that if it works I will start looking further into turning it into a 3D image and hopefully mass producing. I would also like to eventually start making my own 2 way rams, but that's further down the road since it is going to take a lot more machining.
