The prototype Dust Devil is ABS. It has taken several shots and has never cared. It's not the best print ever (but not bad at all), but PB hits aren't much of a concern.

AKA Fan
I have nothing to contribute to this project sadly but would be very interested in a smaller cap for my rotor

I was gonna mention ABS is tougher and has less shrinkage. Heck, if Hasbro uses it for its nerf blasters (and you should see some of the things people do to those things) and they're still going strong, don't see why it wouldn't be bad for PB.

ABS is the second most common plastic used for 3d printing, it is strong and durable, although a little harder to print than PLA, if Printed it would be printed in ABS anyways.

I had 5mm wallthickness on my trracer project and one time during band camp.. during final sanding I 'accedantely' dropped the magwell/reciever on the concrete floor. It held up nicely (although it was only the plastic part so it did not weigh that much).

for reference, my trracer:

5mm (.197) is pretty thick, but that it a part that is likely to get shocked more than a loader. Simon confirmed that he has always used .080 on loaders for standard wall thickness.

true, but then again the the shell of a loader has a smarter shape for withstanding pressure/shock. I had the concern of the magwell breaking to either side as the only thing keeping it in place is the 3d printed reciever. It also holds part of the old trracer body in place (which was cut in half).

just wanted to say that 5mm did survive a drop test. and this was printed with one of the first cheap printers (in case that matters?).
