Anyone sew?

I'm going to be deployed till around late fall but I will be returning home with a BUNCH of new multicam pants and tops. People talk about wearing bdus to play and whatnot, but I typically wear paintball specific pants.

Is there anyone out there think they can convert a few pairs of multicam pants to "exalt throwback" style pants? I am mainly looking for bombproof knees and a fortified rear end. Stretch panels and stock class loops are extra cool.

What do you think?

Please pm me if you think you are up for the project.

Alex

Are you using the crye multicam stuff? Ie soldier gear 'crye' pants with integrated knee pads + a massif combat shirt? If so people in airsoft seem to go bananas for that stuff and you may be better off just selling and buying purpose made paintball pants in multicam. That being said I love playing in my g3's (not great for speedball sliding but great for recball. If your dead set on modding yours maybe try this guy

Home Made Gear

oh and if you dont want any of the old knee pads id be interested

There was always a clothing alteration shop around any base I was stationed. I never had any of my BDUs converted into paintball gear but I've had them made into shorts fairly cheap. Or if you have a friend in the parachute shop they might hook you up. You might also think about having some basic Paintball pants get some extra material sewn on them using old BDUs.

The multicam I have is not the "cool guy" crye stuff. It's the basic issue fireproof pants. We do have some combat pants with the integrated knee pads, but I am fairly certain we need to turn it back in. Never thought to ask any of the riggers if they have sewing machines..hmmm.

I may just have to order the nylon and take it to a local sew shop and explain what I want done. Hopefully they won't charge an arm and a leg.

I would like to at least turn 4 pairs into paintball pants, and I'd even let the person (if on mcb) doing the sewing a pair as thanks.

This should be easy enough with some basic sewing. Just would have to make sure the sewn string would be strong enough, maybe use spyder fishing line hahahaha. For knee pads are you looking to have them sewn on the inside or outside?

Wouldn't need to sew on kneepads. I wear kneepads under my pants. The nylon would just make the knees more durable

Any suggestions as to where to buy some heavy duty nylon? I googled it but wanted some insight from people who have maybe ordered fabric before.

It may not be the least expensive way for you to go. The seamstress in my smallish town gets $30/hr for custom jobs. You may be better off, as i-bunker-u stated above, selling your stuff online and going with something like the Valken Zulu pants in V-Cam.

I may just sell most of the multicam and keep a pair of pants. Most of the stuff is new with tags or without tags and never worn.

have you looked at fabric or craft stores? here we have Michael's and Joans, they also offer services on site. I had them do a frame, and take some pictures putting them on with a custom back several different ones. they came out really great and it was cheap compared to taking them to a shop that specialist in that. most time if you buy some of things needed they give you a better deal.

also for the fabric you might look at army surplus or donation stores like the Salvation.
