Flexhone makers have new online store

I came home yesterday to this!!!

My new final Flexhone to replace my old one, which looked sadder than Charlie Brown's Christmas tree.

My happy new Levigated Alumina, Extra fine grit, self centering preciousness.

Brush Research Manufacturing has upgraded their website with an online store and cart system that lets you single order even special order items like the LA flexhone. Prior to this you had to set up an account, meet minimum orders and so forth!!!

I called them a few months ago about buying one and it seemed that I would need a corporate account to deal directly with them.

They did say (back then) that they'd sell me one, but it would be COD...which I thought was a little odd.

The new website is good news. I'll be checking it out shortly

What are the differences on the two types of hones, Rear bore vs barrel hone? I see they offer different grits based on the materials but I'm lost on the other aspects.
Thanks

rear bore hones are a little bit bigger in diameter. i'd assume they are meant for Nelson style bodies to hone the back side of them where the hammers slide.

So you could use a rear bore hone to overbore the front half of a barrel? The thought I have is I had a .688 single bore barrel reamed out to accept freak inserts. Problem is that anything larger than .688 paint and the barrel makes a mess of things. If I could hone out the front of it, past the insert, then I wouldn't have the problems with big paint.

no. the hone is too big for that.

to over bore your barrel, use the regular hone. get a coarse grit hone and hit with that and work your way to a finer grit.

The rear hone is like .750 iirc, pretty big to stick in a barrel.

Chad is right, just use regular barrel hones and keep at it until it is big enough.

EDIT: the website specs on the rear bore say .850
