Good method for replacing trigger guard?

This trigger guard was chopped off in the 90s so I could install a dual-trigger shoe:

I still have the piece that was chopped off, but I kinda like the dual-shoe, and want to keep it that way. But I most fields now require a guard.

So I'm curious what would be a good method to make a homemade trigger guard, and not make it look... homemade.

I'd rather not drill into the gun itself. My first thought was to remove the grip, and drill/tap a 1/4" hole into it. Then take a 4" long bolt, and bend it into an "L" shape. CHop off the top, thread into the hole, and done. At least that is the easy way.

Any ideas?

If you are going that route, get all thread rod (or whatever it's called) and then sleeve it or grind the threads of the rest of it, then polish it up nice. You might even be able to get it in brass

Bash gaurd ALA VM68.. but attach it to the bottom of the grip frame.

Early M98 double trigger gaurds were basically that.

Doesnt the tank and ASA there count as the same type of guard as a VM?

Or buy non-threaded rod and just thread a small part at the end? Sounds like less work (But requires the proper die)

My thinking was to get a rod that was JUST threaded on the end. Then chop off the head, and bend that towards the gun.

Something brass might look nice, since the gun already has some brass parts. Plus, brass would be far easier to bend then something steel.

Lazy ***.... hmmmm... I think of you more as Mr. I think I can..... especially after Spring Castle 2006. Stumbling around in the dark trying to get into your bunk... then everyone hears a thunk as you hit the floor.. "Mike.. you okay" "Yeah.. I'm fine.. I can get up there"
