Okay ladies and gents. We embark upon the great Nelson build off 2008.
Let's have fun with this one. We have enough time to do some nice things. And since we couldn't come up with a number that everyone liked, there is no dollar figure for us to stay under.

Rules are posted below:

1. The marker must be a Nelson based marker

2. The total cost of the marker project must not exceed what ever you can get away with before your wife/girlfriend/significant other/accountant kills you.

3. You have until the 1st of April to find a suitable marker to modify/build, and a "before" picture must be taken and posted in the '08 Nelson Build Off thread by April 1st.

4. No modification is to take place before April 1st, 2008.

5. Purchasing of parts before April 1, 2008 is allowed.

6. All entries must be posted by the 31st of May, 2008 giving the entrants 2 months from the build-start date to complete their project.

7. Judges will be selected on the 1st of May from a voluntary pool.

8. There will be a panel of 15 judges and the entrants will post their finished markers in the '08 Nelson Build Off thread

9. Pictures of works in progress may be posted

10. Outside help is allowed and encouraged!

11. If the judges find something to be out of the ordinary we will confer together on the subject and the majority decision of the judges will be the final word.

12. There will be two categories of entries: Resurrected and Custom. Please remember to inform us of what category you are entering when you post your final work. Entries without a declaration of category will be disqualified from the competition.

13. Entries will be judged on at least the following criteria. Creativity, Quality of Workmanship, Style, Cohesiveness, and Functionality.

14. And Finally, all participants are encouraged to have a lot of fun.

I'm in but isn't determining the winner going to be bias?

I mean the first one to post a "rare" duck, or a "rare" version of something Carter built will win. Where as people that have "custom" Phantoms or Traccers are going to lose?

Or are you looking more for execution of the idea. Also some people like solid colors, some people like splash colors and some people like fades. Are you looking for a theme?

Well Im in. In fact Ive got one (actualy two) gun(s) that Ive yet to start on that will work great for the resurection category, and another thats been dimantled and measured up for modifications that will work great for the other ( I did technicly allready start on this on, but 1 hour worth of work isnt removing the feed tube and barrel what Id call cheating (technicly I had to dimantl it to see what size tube I needed anyways), so Ill hold off on working any more on it until the start date. Should be Fun

Generally here on MCB we have multiple category's so you do not have to worry about some one winning with a Duck or the like. Only thing you have to worry about is if their work is more "Custom" then yours. Not to mention around here a lot of times there is a "Best in Show" where I believe a sort of general vote on what every one thinks is the winner gets. All that said its for bragging rights nothing more nothing less. To have fun and show off.

Hell I will even throw my hat in a sa judge!

I don't think this will be the case at all. If someone has a nice duck and posts pre and post pictures with almost no changes, I seriously doubt they'll win.

I'm in... I assume this is the official "08 Nelson Build Off" thread? (sticky?)

If so, I plan on working on one (or both) of these.... so this is my "before" pic submission.

Glad to know but I guess we will know for sure when the winner is chosen. And there are a lot of people that have been at this site for a long long time, I understand the "generally here at mcb" its more or less the same, only difference is people here have money or at least aren't counting on the sale of their 07 EGO to purchase their 08 EGO.

I've been here for a long long long time I just didn't bother creating a new account when mcb revamped his system and asked everyone to. But thanks for patronizing me anyhow :-)
