Update... not a good one... 4/23/08

No pics. Not good at all.

Had my draw bar fail mid milling the grip frame rail....... The plug weld gave out that held the nut to tighten it down and the whole thing came loose with a pound worth of new sharp 5 inch long 1 inch wide ball end mill on the end...

Not pretty took out the part and then fell out completely and I shut here down.. right now Im dead in the water... but I have everything to build the thing now.

Gah!

When you replace that part, order a proper milling vice to go with it! That drill press vice is blasphemy.

But, overall, good going! Really wish I had the funds right now to join another build-off.

I actually tend to only use it for odd shaped parts or tall stock... Other wise Im using the table and jigs I made...

But a real vice is on my to-do... among other things.

Well, keep an eye on your Enco/Grizzly/Wholesale Tools flyers. I might have good luck with Chinese parts, but I'm happy with my wallet-money one.

Update 5/7/08 2:23am... (night owling)

Got back to work.. I may scrap making my own frame rail as the 1 inch ball end mill is giving me fits with the 1 inch R8 collet.. I think its just two big for my machine to handle.

But.... I started fleshing out the grip frame.. Its kinda angular compaired to the Box Gun as Im making the rear frame be a drop out changer and to make matters stranger... I found a commando body kicking around my work shop so it may be cocker threaded..

Booyah! Almost done roughing out the frame..

Lots of time later........... Ive got the basics.. Im at a point where I can go three ways.. use the normal nelspot trigger and body rail.. make a custom swing trigger and modd the body rail a bit.. or make the body rail and a slide trigger/swing trigger...

Right now Im having issues with my big *** 1 inch ball end mill staying in place in the tool holder if I put any amount of load on it from doing anything more then shallow cuts its tends to get wonky and get loose no matter how tight I go on it..

But.. Im happy with where I am now.

The bottom will get cut off more but for now its 90* to the 12 gram piercing thing and it will make my life easier to drill and tap the 12 gram bits.

This is the good post... The money shot... kinda.

Update... 1:30am 5/15/08.........

Rail has been made out of aluminum, Im still debating slider or swing for the trigger.. but now the only stock OEM parts are going to be the rear asa off a Nelspot. The feed block isnt made yet that is just raw aluminum stock cut to length that will be finished tomarrow.. as will be the pump... as will be the rail... the frame I need a good solid day of work on. I may have that done...

The shocker......... My gun isnt getting anno'ed in time for the contests completion but the gun will be done and submitted by May 23... Im going on a paintball free vacation for a week to a beach house wear I intend to leave it paintball free... surfing beer and babes.

Im making this stuff look easy.... 2 months minus 7 days to build a duck clone can it be done.. I say it will be...

No cool pictures tonight but lots a progress......

- Body rail milled for sear slot, 12 gram piercer pin and drilled and tapped where need be..
- Internals have been tuned in another gun and Im getting 30ish shots out of a 12 gram that are usable
- Barrel/breach have been bead blasted... and a commando body has been sourced that I may go with.
