For loader idea number one, look into "constant force springs" i don't know for sure, but if you set the interior raceway for the paintballs correctly it should work. they come in all kinds of shapes and should fit the bill... i'd imagine you'd have to make your drum mags two peices (one half with a track, the other as a lid) and have some sort of pin lock system to hold them unwound while you drop your paintballs in. You could definatly hold 12+ paintballs in a decently small sized mag. I've been thinking about buying a couple but the only place i can find them is McMaster-Carr, but on the bright side the come in more flavours than baskin robins....
