| Brainstorming-Building the Scout's Scattergun I've been playing a lot of TF2 recently, and I've become a big fan of the Scout (Nothing like double-jumping across the bridge roof on 2Fort to take out the snipers on the other side). Anyways, looking at his Scattergun, I notice that it bears a striking resemblance to the double-barreled, lever'd Nasties we all love. ![]() In the game, the Scattergun apparently loads 6 shots, then can fire them semi-auto. No idea how that works, so I think that building a paintball version would be better off just regular pump. However, the real feature I want to replicate is the drum mag. Again, looking at it, it would be pretty trivial to build a drum that covers it, it's the feed system that has me thinking. I came up with 2 ideas. 1: Flexible spring feed inside the drum: This would work like the cRAP4/Tactmark/Milsig/Other HGP knockoff mag-feeders-a solid but bent tube that can hold a bunch of paintballs with a long spring at the end. My idea was just to use Q-Loader or Warp Feed hoses and put a spring-loaded cap on the end. This would be a very cheap and easy setup. The problem? Springs that offer the right amount of strength (Can push balls all the way to the end without crushing any when it's full), and kinks in the hose. 2: Drive Cone: Like Oily's or LeopoldScotch's Reloader-fed drum mags for their respective milsim guns, I was thinking of just having a cone in the bottom of the drum, with a splitter that would feed to both hoses. Since Reloaders and such are built to feed guns at 25+ BPS, and have plenty of power, I think they'd have no problem keeping both hoses fed and forced. This isn't something I'm doing right now, or even planning to do in the near future. I'd have to cannibalize a NHT to do it (And, I'd probably need to get said NHT custom-made, with feed tubes angled down instead of up. Still, it's a fun idea that I might do some day. But I need to work out the feed system first. Any better ideas? |

| I approve of this plan! I'd say the simplest way to build would be 2 circular spring feeds, but reloading would most likely be a pain in the arse... The force feed custom built hopper system is most likely a lot more practical in a game, but may not be quite as easy to build. Why not modify 2 warp feeds and use the just the feeders as a hopper. No hopper attached, just the "drums" themselves.

| Hmm...yeah, that's actually a really good idea. Mount two of them together inside there, run a winding knob on the outside, have caps on the outside as well I can pull out to reload...yeah, that's not a bad idea! |

| if you're looking to get a few shots per barrel, why not just use a pair of tubular magazines with the spring, but curve the suckers?

| FWIW The Rap 4 Gen 5 (or whatever the .68 cal version of the Rap 4 marker is) uses a U shaped spring feed in the clips.

| Yeah, I think having a U-shaped stickfeed in the drum would be the best way about it. Maybe I'll spend some quality time with some aluminum tube, a bender and some springs this summer and see what I can rig up. |

| I was just playing TF last night looking at the scattergun. Interesting little gun. Heres what I thought might for a paintball gun. Pretty much a drum magazine split in half. The drum have a raceway inside of it that has a little divider in the bottom. Palmer style springs for the feed, and little followers on the end. Then have a window in the back of the drum to preload the springs while loading. To load it you can have a couple trap doors just about anywhere. I'd consider putting them on top the barrels. That way you can make a little sleeve to go over it, and hook the sleeve to the lever action. If you wanted to do it like this, I'd assume the marker is going to be semi-auto (Autococking). http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...scattergun.jpg
