Paintball-powered snow machine

No, not really. Though I did grab a quick video of the Electro Mega-Z. I finally got the bugs worked out, and it works great now.

Electro Mega-Z, on Full Auto

Humidity is only at 55%, so the snow storm is rather disappointing.

For the curious:
This is what Liquid CO2 looks like

Neat video...I wonder if you held the gun upside down while firing, if it would create more of a snowstorm.

Nope, he's already got a tube into the bottom of the liquid in the co2 tank. These montneels won't work otherwise, but they're one of the smoothest and fastest mechanical blowbacks I've ever shot. Revvies are NOT an option with these things, you need that at the minimum.

What are you using for hose ? It's been my experience that macroline explodes on contact with liquid CO2.

Macroline that is actually rated for the pressure probably.

Nice job there Nick

There are lots of myths about liquid co2.
It is actually the same temperature as everything else. It is not cold normally.

However, when you fire, some of the liquid co2 boils to gas, and that process absorbs some heat which will make the liquid, and gas, and tank cold.

So for most guns, if liquid gets into the macroline, it probobly boils off to gas, which means it is sucking heat out of the macroline. The sudden change in temp can weaken it, and in "worst case scenerio", yes, it could weaken it enough to blow.

My gun is an oddball though, in that it forces liquid into the gun. What happens is that the liquid then boils off in the barrel, and not the tank. THe end result is that the BARREL gets cold, but not the liquid in the tank. So in my case, it is safe to run. Though I have to be very careful when I screw the tank on.

It is beefy Nylon-12, though I don't recommend macroline. I had thrown it on simply so I could run tests, then never found a sutable replacement.

I have 5 markers with macro line that run on anti-syphon co2, 4 that run on syphon co2 and 2 that use micro-line with co2. I have never ever blown a line.
I had a guy on my team who left his marker sitting in the sun for too long and that burst the line but never from regular use. Pro-lites and Pro-ams from Tippmann came with macro line through the trigger frames and they were fine.
I do like the clear line, I have some on my Thundercat. its creepy watching the co2 bubble around when you shoot.

True- The real danger is that macroline push/pull fittings are not rated above 300psi. The old tippmanns used strong compression fittings, in combination with strong Nylon-12 tubing.

However, kids today often use weaker Nylon-10, or even Nylon-8. Fine for LP tanks, but borderline unsafe for HP tanks, and definetly not Co2.

So when i bitch about macroline, its mostly towards the weak fittings, and Nylon-8/10. I wish the industry would work a bit harder to push for standardization.

Hardline
In a perfect world.....
That originally had a hardline, but then was upgraded to nitro by replacing it with a volumizer. I wanted it to run liquid, so I pulled the LPC, and needed a way to connect, but can not find a stainless line short enough.....
