| Need advice on some tricky chroming I've had an impulse for many years now. I converted to pump 2 years ago. Since then I turned my imp into a long term project marker that is currently in the works. The last step of this project involves some tricky chrome work. I want to put two sets of chrome stripes down both sides of the marker. One stripe down the barrel and top tube and the other down the lpr front cap and bottom tube. I'm guessing the best way to go about it would be to contour (sp?) strips of aluminum to the body then have them chromed. Line up the stripes on the parts and use some serious adhesive. I was completly clueless as to how one would go about doing chome stipes. Until several months went by and while watching an episode of american choppers I saw them do something along the lines of the process I just tried to explain. Then again American choppers has the resources to do some cutting edge stuff. Sooo how feasible is this? Can someone point me in the right direction of somewhere or someone who could help me with any part of that process? Anyone have a better method or process of going about this? Any feedback/tips would be appreciated. -thanks in advance Last edited by Haldeman; 05-15-2008 at 01:12 AM. |

| It's not chroming but your best bet may be to get some masking done on the impulse. The process is straightforward and would probably be much cheaper and a more feasible choice for the contrast. You'd lose a bit of the shine but a nice clear can look really nice. Penguin |
