Press fitting feedneck autococker qustion...

I'm doing the mod to a heavily milled body, and was wondering if I should press in the feedneck insert before or after anno.. I've heard that annodizing removes a fine amount of metal, which would lead me to believe that if I put the insert in, it would likely pop back out easily after anno..

So I was thinking of sending the body off to get annoed, then making a press fitting insert for an ego feedneck to the new size of the body.. and probably oversizing a little, or making it from stainless (likely the second route)

any suggestions?

Anno actually adds a very small amount.

Anno wont grow on metal that is in contact with another piece metal. So either way the fit where the neck is pressed into the body wont even be touched by the anno. If you pulled the old neck out you would notice that it is raw aluminum.

I recomend you install the neck prior to anno.

cool, thankyou

I guess then, that I'll make it stainless also, to add a little bit of flair and indestructability.

I always thought the stripping, refinishing, and anno process would take some off, but thats cool that it doesn't.

You cannot anno stainless and the neck will have to be removed before anno....

Yep, I know.. I planned on just polishing it and leaving it in after anno.. that way I can make sure it fits really well, and wont come out.

Sorry for the necropost...

Any of you guys know the radius of the cut on the bottom of the feed tube? I have a right feed body that needs a new feedneck. I seem to remember an 11/16 endmill is just about right... Thanks!
