Boredom and a box of burl

Picked up a box of burl a while back and decided to make a few grips panels. Pics don't do them justice at all. The top left are standard 45 panels and the rest are the thinner 45 panels that are just rounded (not sure what the style is called). The bottom 2 pairs are definently my favorites...

Well, posted in this forum, I'd say the latter.

Honestly, they were a bit time consuming and it's pretty hard to put a price on some quality alone time in the shop with just me, a radio, some tools and a block of wood.

Also, I'm only about 80% happy with the finish. Not the look of it really, but long term wear and tear concerns. Because it's a softer wood, I did the wood hardener stabilizing technique... then ended up using some diamondcoat poly for the final finish. Usually I like something a bit more natural like an oil finish but that wasn't happenin...

I'll tell ya what. Since I have more burl and may make some more to sell... and since they need some field testing anyway... keep an eye out for a Karma post here in a few minutes.
