Cut down a tree makes some grips

I cut down a very dead mimosa tree in my parents yard last year and saved some of the wood because I was curious about the grain.
Here is some of it made into a sheridan wrap around grips. Currently it has just one coat of oil, but that will change.

It works pretty easily. I thought it looks decent for something, I had to remove anyway. Free wood is great. I have a bunch of 45 grip panels out of mimosa and wild cherry sitting in my garage waiting for me to finish. I have quite a bunch of the mimosa left, as well as I know where there are plenty of more treees to cut.

That acually looks really neato. If you've got enough wood, you should make a wooden pump handle to match.

I am planning on it already. I might make a full stock out of it for another project that I have in the works.
