| Seasoned Member Join Date: Jul 2006 | Project "why not" has started to come to life made a primative board for it yesterday and was shooting her in the back yard. I was using about 150 psi from the shop compressor and was in the low 200 fps range. need to add another switch and pull down resistor to the board and write a little more code. I'm remaking the pump handle for it with a little better plan than I had when I made the first pump. I did some ram/valve modding and was happy that it worked. Now the hammer sits about 1/8 of an inch from the valve stem. It cuts down on the kick quite a bit. more pics at http://www.putfile.com/kevinnoway/images/23586

It's a BKO that I had and didn't use, I figure doing some strange mods to it is better than watching surviver or 24 so ... why not. it is a whole lot of things in one. One noid drives the ram/hammer to open the valve, the other noid controls the bolt. This enables me to make it function a lot of different ways.. I reworked the pump I put on it originally and I have yet to put it on but when I do, it will be a electronic pump and still be capable of firing in semi. with the BASIC stamp I am using to control it I can switch modes fairly easily. I can make it act like a regular pump, give it an autotrigger, make a ramping pump or whatever other mode you can think of. Anymore I am not a real big fan of the pursuit of faster ROF for playing PB but it can still be fun to see how fast I can get it. The factory BKOs are physically capped around 18 CPS. The setup of the spring returned ram just can't cycle fast enough and it will stop making full cycles somewhere around that 18 CPS mark. I am hoping that through the modding of the ram and an independantly driven bolt I can get it to run faster. I will need to switch the hoses to make it an open bolt for that part but it's all just experimentation. if you didn't check out the link, here is a pic of it with the first pump.

It can be difficult to make a PSP style ramping using BASIC as the programming language. I would prefer a structured language for true ramping or I can use two basic stamps to make it easier. I just find it to be mildly hard to get one chip to moniter trigger and pump inputs at the same time it is controlling the firing sequence.
