I have been playing around with some more mimosa making grips. It really is a nice looking wood, and readily available.

Pretty wood. A lot of nice variation in grain and pattern if that was all from the same tree. Was that from a Mimosa "Silk tree" or any idea of what species?

It was all from the same tree. I got the different grain patterns by cutting the wood at different angles. Some across the grain, some with, and some by cutting the crotch burl. As far as the variety, I have no idea, I just know that there are tons of them growing locally. It is actually a very invasive tree. When they make seeds they spread like wildfire. I have about a thousand of them, all about a foot high that sprouted in a roadway on my property. I planning on mowing them off though. I am planning on selling some of the grips, I still need to get everything organized first though. I have been around mimosa trees all my life, but I had know idea that it was such a pretty wood until, I cut down a dead one for my parents.
