| Pneumatic triggers are generally regarded as faster then reactive triggers. Plus they have the advantage of being field/tournament legal. Still, it might be possible to just tap the exhaust from the qev, and run that to a tiny clippard ram behind the trigger for the reactive effect.

| The shape of the Ion trigger just doesn't lend itself to having an RT. Mounted behind the trigger just above the valve would probably work the best, but that would complicate the hose routing. Another thing to mention would be having the gas vented from the QEV would not provide enough pressure to really kick the trigger back much harder than the stock magnetic return. There's just not enough gas used to hold the bolt backwards in the rest position. If you were to attempt an R/T'ed mech ion, I would use the exhaust port on the 3-way switch and not equip the marker with a QEV. You'd get that excess volume of air from inside the hose in addition to the air holding the bolt forward kicking against the trigger. Of course the only way to adjust the pressure of the RT would be to adjust the length of the hose feeding the ram. Not quite as adjustable as RT's on other markers. Okay, about ten minutes after I posted this I had a young frankenstein moment. THIS COULD WORK!!!! I'm gonna try to get a diagram done in MSPaint if anyone is more interested than I am. Done - attached is a schematic, no measurements obviously, it should make it much more clear what I'm talking about. If anyone pulls it off and it works great, awesome.

| Well it's an idea I'd be excited to see. I'd do it if I could get away with buying a new gun, but with the need to pick up my own computer and desk in the near computer, a fifteenth paintball gun for the collection is not quite necissary. |

| ![]() I asked about RT'ing a mech Ion on one of the Tinker's Guilds about 2 and a half months ago, this was my original concept. Tap an air line where the arrow is drawn, have it lead to a flow control valve of some sort then to a spring return single acting cylinder behind the trigger. Potentially destroys the body though. Another method brought up was to use a single acting spring forward, air return ram. Have this air supplied from the same line going to the front fitting on the body, so that when the valve vents to fire, it simultaneously vents from the cylinder, and the spring pushes the piston forward adding a forward force to the trigger. Yet another method - use a 4 or 5-way valve instead of a 3-way, and have the secondary output leading to the RT cylinder. |

| The mech tourney was something Dale and I talked about a couple years ago when I stopped by his American Fork store. He was mentioning his soon to be opened outdoor field, and how he wanted to host mech only tourneys. There is a oldschool 10man tourney there on the 19th... but they wouldn't agree to do mech only, or pump only. Apparently they care more about getting people out than doing it oldschool ![]() ![]() Oh well, hopefully the speedballers like the 10man format and they keep doing it... at some point maybe they will do one with mech markers only. |
