MechIon I know it's been done a couple of times. Xluben did one a year ago about like the one I did. I wish I had seen his earlier, as he answered some questions I struggled with. I was inspired by YDNA, and wanted to make one with a cleaner look. I started with a stock ion I bought cheap with a missing board. I added the CP asa, Ultralight, and the Hyper2 ![]() Picked up a clippard 3-way from ASP, and a sweet little T-fitting from the guy at SPE that had made the pump ions (sorry I don't remember the name ![]() Next I made a little bracket to hold the 3-way. ![]() I put some holes in the frame, not too professional, but I'm no airsmith, just did it on a drill press. ![]() ![]() It's a bit crowded, but I got the 3-way nicely in there. ![]() Just enough room to slip the hose on the back of the 3-way ![]() I didn't want a ton of hose looping around, so I made the hoses just long enough. Made it a bit hard to work to get the hoses attached and then in there, but the effort paid off. ![]() ![]() And here's how it looks back together..... ![]() Oh wait... is that the before picture or the after?? Doesn't matter, you can't tell the difference when it's all together. ![]() Fires real nice. Make sure, if you're going to do the MechIon, that you have a QEV and a bolt with two tail o-rings. I'll get a vid maybe. If the talk of Mech only tourny's in Utah ever come to fruition... I'll be ready! Last edited by jhyan; 06-15-2008 at 02:51 AM.

Yup, for the matrix you'd need an actual 4-way like a cocker. A custom adapter to fit on the solenoid spot with barbs coming out would make it easy to move the bolt back and forth. The beauty of the ion is that the ports into the body for air are just standard 10-32 threading. j

The Ion I've got mostly together I contemplated converting to mech, but I then realized hollowpoint bolts aren't dump-valve so consistancy would suck. This is pretty freaking cool though.

Thanks murph. Yeah, you need something that dumps the entire chamber, and doesn't allow the source air to keep flowing. Stock bolts and firebolts are a no go... I think I have a warrior v.2 in this one. Whatever it is... it's green.

| A god in my own mind | Murph Nice work. If you talk to Blue. I'm sure he would add that t-fitting to his stock. On Asp
