Push comes to shove, they're a pretty cheap cutter, if you're willing to stick to HSS.

I'll say it again, you did do well on this CAD. Very nice little demo.
Yep, I bought a $16 HSS one from Enco. I know I was only going to be cutting plastic, and a little aluminum at most so I wasn't really concerned. If I do end up needing more later, I'll upgrade it to something better.

The mill and a couple of the metal lathes we have are actually out of an old prison around here. My dad was a guard there 25 years ago! Our school is pretty well funded but metal seems to get the short end of the stick at times.

Out of curiosity what are the end mills that screw into the collet called? We had a little trouble ordering a few mills without the proper name. If push comes to shove I'll eat the cost myself on the tooling.

Screw in? Never seen anything of the sort, myself.

If it's an end mill that slips in, and is then held in place by a perpinduclar set screw, it's a standard end mill, and the collet is instead an end-mill holder.

Brad Nestle, out of Texas I believe used to do mods like this to phantoms with billiards balls. I don't know if he's still around, but he might have some insight.....he did some sick work, anyone know if he's still around?
