| Where to find brass bits? For my summer project (homebrew pirate KL), I want to use some brass accenting-make a plate under the lever mount, some brass screws, maybe try and color the trigger and lever brass if I can-to give it that old-school, steampunk look. Also, to cover up my quick-and-dirty style of woodworking. Anyways, where would I find brass bits like that? I know brass paint I can probably find in Canadian Tire, but I'm not so sure about screws and sheet brass and such. Any suggestions? |

| Try the lighting fixtures and hardware aisles at your local Home Depot (or Canadian equivalent). Brass hardware and such is pretty easy to find, and you might find some neat knobs and other decorative stuff in the lighting and furniture sections. As far as rawma...sheet brass and stuff you'll probably have to order from mcmaster, smallparts, etc. You might find some at a plumbing or roofing specialty store but it'll be an easter egg hunt for sure.

| My local hardware has a small display of brass. Has rods and even small sheets of up to 1/8" or so (like 3"x6"). If the hardware store doesn't have something like this, maybe try a hobby shop.

| Ok.....I'm going to give you some info for all out brassing.....I wish I still had pics from my black powder days.... For bands.....brass bangles that women wear on their wrists...plain and with designs on them. Inlay into wood or make barrel band(s). Brass nails and tacks....can be found anywhere....designs such as stars can be found or the hammered look... Inlays....Horse brass and belt buckles....many designs to choose from....I like the ships....Just cut out the design... Brass beads can be inlaided as-is or ground smooth on the back for flush and inlaid mounting.. Skull beads look great on wood.... On flat plate...a flat belt buckle may work..... Good luck and have fun....
