Phuzzarding and phantoms

Since I'm going to be getting a phantom in a matter of days (hopefully) I'm looking at all my options.

I'm not trying to tarnish cockerpunk and his ventures in any way shape or form, consider these questions from a 'grasshopper'.

1. Are there any benefits that warrant the 'phuzzard' conversion?

2. Cockerpunk charges $100 base price, is it worth it for me (a first time phantom user and 'weekend warrior')?

3.I really, really like the look of it but how does it 'feel' ergonomically. Is it like a duckslide? Some hate whilst others swear by it? If it looks nice, great but if it doesn't 'feel' right in my hands its useless to me.

4. Pros/cons?

5. After looking at a few pictures it has become apparent that there might be a tendency for dirt to enter through the 'slot' cut for the dual pump arms? I'm in malaysia so if anything goes wrong I'm on my own (if I choose not to ship it back to mike which is very costly), I break down and clean my current marker after everyday of play and will do so for the phantom (or phuzzard).

6. Anything else I need to consider?

Thanks,

Arpie

I've shot CP's personal guns - the phuzzarding mod really cleans up the phantom's pump stroke (which is already nice).

As for getting dirt in the marker - that's personal play style. My guns tend to stay clean, I loan them to other people and they come back looking like they were used to excavate a canal. If you're the type that has grime and dirt in your marker after every day of play - then it might be a problem.

My markers come home pretty clean but get a good tear down and cleaning anyway - if you're like me then you won't have any problems with dirt.

you may also want to investigate the under-cocking kits. I like the look and feel.

Bryce is right, the only real downside is the possibility of more dirt getting in.

It's supposed to smooth out the pump stroke a bit, but I'm personally happy with my Phantom's stroke already.

Play with it a few times. Then, if you don't like it, you can decide.

I had one of the original ones done by Brad Q Nestle. I did NOT like it.

I'm not sure how CP does it but make sure he bores out the handle enough so that you can use different barrels in there.

You had to deal with screws that can come undone during play, depending on the fit around the barrel it could end up with a worse pump stroke than before.

it feels, like a sports car!

use your gun, and see what you think. if the extra 100 bucks is worth it, im happy to do it. let me know.

IMO theres nothing you can really do to upgrade a phantoms performance, nothing to make it shoot straighter, or more consistent, or anything, except for the phuzzard mod. the pump stroke comes out amazing on some of the latter guns i have been doing. even smoother than mine, which was the prototype.

with solid color annoed arms it comes to about 120ish usually.

EDIT - barrel fit is good. i can bore it out to use one of the new freaks or the stock setup. its acutally a tad bit more loose than the stock handle, and thats becuase the two arms dont need the barrel as much as a guide.

I really hate living outside the US when it comes to 'exotic (considering I live in asia)' hobbies. In malaysia 'pump-play' is unheard of, its all 'how much can you spray' speedball.

So...

I have no way of trying out a phuzzard let alone a phantom or any other pump marker.

I can't buy a phantom then ship it back to the US for the phuzzarding treatment.

Everything I order from US has to be multiplied by 3.2 to equate to malaysian currency.

Shipping is a killer (I'm looking at something in the region of $60 to $80 just for shipping, not even including a chance of custom charges).

And with the malaysian customs theres always a chance the marker might be confiscated and if I can't get it back, incinerated.

All paintball orders placed through 'proper' paintball importers incur a %45 to %50 tax.

Fun stuff isn't it? With all this trouble and the cost of paint rising (imagine paying $320 for one case of paint) stock class play is going to be the last 'straw' before I give up paintball (for now, whilst I still live in malaysia).

So I might just buy the absolute bare essentials so if it does get confisacted I'm not loosing a lot of my hard saved cash (I'm not at that magical 'working' stage yet ).

Now the question is dropout versus VSC....

Thanks,

Arpie
