Shotgun Pistol Grip on a Hurricane

Not sure if anyone has tried this but I was inspired by Drums shorty 'cane that he has. The stock on my 'cane is too long so I was thinking about trying to adapt a shotgun pistol grip to my 'cane.

Anyone have any insight as to if this is possible? My big worry is that there isn't enough wood to work with to keep the pistol grip in a comfortable position close to the trigger. Of course I have no idea if the dimensions match up to make this decent looking.

I suppose my other option to to build one from scratch from a block of wood. Where could I get a large piece of wood I can hand carve?

Just an FYI; the pistol grip on my shorty Hurc is actually made from a section of the removed buttstock. As near as I can tell, the hunk of wood that serves as the pistol grip is screwed into the remaining stock. I am pretty sure there is glue in there and then the whole thing was powder coated.

Good luck,
D

According to Craig it was. There may well be different types of that process that does not involve intense heat, but I do not know anything about that.

You have to staticly charge, then melt to the piece. You can powdercoat all kinds of things if you got the skills.

Drum, didnt craig say yours was created with horrendous amounts of Bondo?

I think there is Bondo under the paint, but I am fairly certain CP will be along sometime and we can ask him what was done. I could have sworn he said it was powdercoat.

What happens to powdercoat if you don't electrically charge it and maybe just bake it on with a low heat?

I don't know... but the coating on this stock seems thicker and somewhat differently textured than paint I am familiar with. It's also pretty tough.

I had thought it was duracoated?

I guess you could powdercoat wood...the temps involved would be around 400*. You wouldnt be able to get the wood to carry a current though so I dont know how the powder would adhere.
