Cool Plexiglass pgp feed tube plugs

First off, I have to thank my dad because he's the one who owns the lathe and the spare chunks of plexiglass.

I was thinking about this for a little while, and decided to try out my idea for the first time this past weekend. It probably took a couple hours, but this was also the first time i've ever used a lathe. I plan on making the plug at the other end later this week sometime. Somthing I still want to do to this one is chuck it back up and make the end more convex like the original plugs. That little side-screw also needs to be installed as well.

You all may see a couple blemishes: first it might seem a little deformed. The other thing is the micro-bubbles that are inside it. These were both cause by the fact that i've never had any previous experience with smooth-finishing plexiglass (with a torch). If anyone has any tips on that procedure, please feel free to post up, as I would eventually like to crank out a run of these and sell them! I cleaned it up right before I attacked it with a torch with a bit of emmery cloth (spelled correct?)

What do you all think?

Nice job. Also if you have an old screwdriver you don't want the clear yellow ones you could also use them as stock to turn down.

YES!! I think it's garage sale raiding time!! haha. I'm totally going to do that now too. I havn't looked into it yet but i'm pretty sure that old screwdrivers cost less than buying cylyndrical plexi stock from online..

Ahh thank you very much. Theres a reason I'm not showing the whole marker; its somthing i've been working on for a little while that I'm thinking about building multiples of. (including the custom plugs). I wanted to see how long it would take till someone noticed the k-frame also. Congrats.

Ive worked with plexi a few times, and I have always used a buffing wheel and compound to put a nice gloss to it. Only thing you have to worry about is melting the piece, but if you do it in steps, after a sanding with fine paper, you should be allright.

Ronin: The best thing to happen to Sheridan since Palmer. And what, you don't want any of my fine pgp plugs!? hahaha

Azzy: I didn't think of that; i'll definatley be trying it out though. What type of wheel/coumpound mix did you use? I just so happen to have access to multiple wheels and compounds. (also my dads).

It was a chalky compound and a fuzzy wheel last time I did, wanst mine so i couldnt tell you. I would assume something fine and a medium buffing wheel would work, just be careful, the small bits wil get caught and fly if you arent careful.
