Very nice. I have thought about doing something like this, but haven't been motivated enough to get up and do it. I like how clean and almost-stock looking it is, I have seen some projects like this that are butchered.

What kind of efficency are you getting right now?

Slick as heck.

I'm in the process of thinking about the same treatment for a Piranha R6. Like you I'm planning on unhooking the bolt from the hammer. But unlike your method I'm looking at JB Weld'ing the pin into the hammer and adding a little plastic sled to hold the hammer from rotating. The bolt will then have a U cut where the pin hole normally fits and the cocking rod will engage the bolt through a groove cut in the rear of the body. The normal cocking pin being tossed altogether.

So.... I'm curious about how you control your hammer from rotating and thus miscatching on the trigger sear? In the Piranha there's nothing to hold it other than the linking pin.

He has a slot cut in the hammer so the pin slides. When you pump it the pin pushes againt the back of the slot and moves the hammer back until it catches the sear. You then push the pump arm forward which closes the bolt, but since the hammer is slotted, the hammer stays on the sear until the trigger is pulled. Same thing I did to my spider.

Ah, I see.... so you don't care if it rotates slightly on the way to the gas pin since when you cock it back the pin will fit into the V and recenter it if it's off.

Clever...

Very nice. I've been wanting to try this, someday. One of the better ones I've seen.

What did you use for tools? just the usual dremel, drill, etc.?

I might start one soon, though I'm going for a really blocky look. I don't know why, it's just a funny idea I have that might end up looking good.
