Do you think I can bore barrels for Freak inserts with this - or is it not big enough?

You could turn car wheels on that thing! Thing is freaking HUGE! I'd hate to pay the power bill to run that! Probably 3 phase power!

You guys are thinking to small here. See TF is thinking of expanding upon SPs patent and taking it from them. He is going to apply it to Navy cannons. That is right when he is done there is going to be a whole new dimension to warfare. One size cannon on deck and a room full of bore sizers. You want to take out diffrent sized targets just pop the breech insert a diffrent bore sizer and load the proper round and your good to go! Every so often the bore gets fouled from over use pop it open and insert a fresh one and your good to keep decimating the enemy. Then after he makes a mint off of his militery contract he can back expand his Patant to include other things and sue them out of exsistence! Its perfect I tell you perfect!

for the price of fixing the clutch and buying a new chuck you could probably buy another brand new lathe...smaller and better suited for boring barrels...

still...you should tell the SO that you purchased that and youre planning on putting it in the garage after a small extension to one wall

Hummmm...it can't take collets? How are you going to hold the barrels? You're better off getting a lathe that can take collets.
