Either way it is a good idea, especially if you have everything you need already.

Sorry, man. I use one of these kits every day, and am planning to buy more soon. They even have a lip on the front of every insert that keeps it from coming out for any reason. Out of all the barrels I've ever used, this one combined with a .686 DYE Classic has been my favorite for months now. In fact, I read not too long ago that Cockerpunk uses the exact same combo.

Oh, the Python ones are also made of aluminum, which I think I would prefer by all accounts. Some of us folks are a bit too hard on our barrels, no matter how hard we try.

I also have a barrel bored out to take a Python insert in reverse. The lip still helps, since it gets trapped between the barrel and gun body.
I did it for many reasons. I've only known about the Python kit since seeing an underboring video that CP made. It was after I had thought about this, but before I had it made. About the material selection, like I said, it was there and not doing anything.

It wasn't cheaper than a Python kit, but it was close. I did it for many reasons, one was simply because I wanted to. I also come up with stuff all the time, a lot of it not paintball related. Some things can't become a reality, but some can, like this.

I was able to play with this yesterday for the first time on me mech cocker. It worked great and I'm looking forward to get a lot more use out of it. The field is FPO and they are currently using XO V-1 and I was getting some roll throughs even with the .679 when I was sizing it. I might need a reball insert for this just in case. Paint normally has been running .684-.685, but recently it's a lot smaller.

Our V1 is tiny too. I use Heat, because we got a pretty good batch of it. Still small, but not as bad.

The field had been using GAP for the longest time and it was .685 or just under. Since GAP closed they have been trying to find something similar. I don't think the V-1 is on par, but it's not too bad. I find the seams aren't as good and are more prone to dimples/thin spots. They were using another XO paint before then and that worked better. With the change of season, the wind has really picked up so I don't think having a better ball would even make that much of a difference. Their search continues though, so I guess we will just have to see.

Oh yeah, if you can get any of the WPN Toxic that people have been eating up lately, that stuff is killer. We had 2 batches of green/green, and it shot and broke phenomenally, for a fantastic price.
