Ok,so now that I've got my custom project finished I'm ready to show you all what I've done.

Several months ago I began contacting our many airsmiths about making a slide trigger frame or at least a one piece .45 frame for my Duckslide Phantom.






Originally Ken at KPCS was supposed to make a Ditto frame to fit it,but,after a while of not hearing anything I decided to move on.Then I saw RTR's Gargoyle slide trigger setup and after waiting a couple months I grew too impatient to wait so I looked for other options.That's when I came across this.....

Carter Mutt



Took a while to finally get a deal going to get it,but,finally did and then I started brainstorming on the possiblities.After PM'ing several of our Airsmiths I finally got 2 of them to agree to help me...decided to go with Luke's Customs as he contacted me first and replied regularly. So I sent him the parts needed to start the work and after a few days he sent me a teaser pic showing my new slide lever, Then a few days after he sent pics of the slide and rail milled.


Well the parts just came back and though I still had to modify the slide a bit afterwards it's finally done and working.What you can't see in the pics is that the barrel/body is not Carter or CIP...it's J&J,Which is lazer etched into the barrel end near the porting.Also it has A Carter Bolt,Hammer,Powertube and cupseal.





Nice thing is I was able to get a matching Gripframe for my CIP (Which is about to go back to PW) out of this too.


Haven't field tested it yet so I have no chrono info yet...I'll post more once I do.

I decided to give this a ball detent and wanted to keep it concealed so I drilled a very small hole under the front grip rail screw and modified a Spyder finger detent to fit...So far it's proven to work well as the few tests I've done I haven't seen one rollout. Had to respring the gun as the tested shots were 333,311,288,282 respectively.Haven't had a chance to see how accurate shots are as of yet,but,it will be getting a good field test next weekend. I will be a Paintball Adventures in Jacksonville on 11/15 for anyone that is interested in checking this out.

Gave it it's first field test and I wasn't real impressed with it's efficency so far.Was only getting 15-18 shot per 12g and it's not llike it was extreme temps or anything.Just resprung it so I'll try again soon.Otherwise it worked flawlessly and fed well. Velocities were between 265 and 285 all day

EDIT 11/20/09
Gave it another test today.Took out the old springs which I think was green (valve) and blue (main) and played around with a couple different ones,finally settled with red and red,which were the strongest ones I have.Now it shoots consistantly 240-255 and gets roughly 30-35 shots per 12g. I'm now very pleased with it.Next step will be having additional cosmetic milling done to the slide,reanno of the slide,possibly have a compensator made to go over the exposed barrel that'll bolt onto the slide,possibly have some custom grips made with the dragon from my avatar on them and maybe a custom valve body to dress up the back of the gun a bit

So let me get this straight... The unibody on the mutt was some J&J jem, and the internal components are all Carter stock. Correct?
Well, according to Hockeytown, he said he was getting up to 35 good shots at over 300fps.

That is correct,it's a Unibody J&J body with Carter Buzzard style internals

If I can get even close to 30 shots per 12g I'll be very happy.Oh and there is a return spring on this beast,it's hidden under the slide just like a real Duck.I never realized the Duckslide had the necessary step inside for the spring under this project started.Now I just need a Duck like name for this as Duckslide just doesn't fit it anymore.

As much as I'd like to move back home,I have someone very important to me here and unless I can talk her into moving up there,it's not likely

soooo i was wondering were the carter mutt went!!! i was eyeing it up to try and pull off a econo CIP SS,just couldnt spend the $$.i want a quacker or a CIP unbelivably bad!

LOL I suppose I could call it Howard but,I dunno I was hoping for something more....Um...Evil

CIP's and Real DD's are slick guns,love the feel of them but,like the slide action of the Duck better (Had a chance to own a Duck or a CIP and had to choose one or the other so went with the CIP because I liked it more at the time....Wish I had got the Duck lol)
The Duckslide was the closest I could get to getting a Duck that I could get...until now

im really into the homebrew duck thing,i just cant justify the cost of the carter. now that rtr has awesome slide triggers and mongo's duckslide the first thing that came to mind was making a econo duck or boxgun. hopfully ill have somthing togeather soon

again i think you did a awesome job,i love seeing this stuff.

I'm on the look out for a Duck Slide also to meld with the RTR frame ensemble. Probably gonna cockerize with an ASP body, and an unported PPS 8" .685id w/mild wedgitted brass
