g3 pressure problems

I looked for a previous post to help with my issue but could not find anything.

My problem is my guns pressure is at 250-260 psi just to get it to shoot at 280 fps.

Im using a 10" deadly wind barrel. I tried the stock barrel and the 12" deadly wind and noticed a 10 fps speed increase. That still does not explain the high pressure that I must keep the gun at.

I have tried both the stock regulator and a lp custom products regulator. The cp reg is the worse of the 2. It is about 10 psi in the stock regs favor.

I also tried the stock bolt, it runs 240 psi with a 12" barrel. The techt bolt gets stuck all the time Ill try a smaller o-ring, but when it works it runs at 265 or so psi. I also tried a techt engine and it is running at 250-260psi with the 10in barrel.

I have worked on the dwell and it is set at 12 milliseconds going any higher made the gun feel wrong and the fps go down and any lower than 10 and it losses power I wanted a little buffer so I used 12.

my ultimate goal is to run this at 200 psi (or lower) with the techt engine 10" barrel and the cp regulator.

any help I can get would help me out alot

If you are putting in 240-260psi (between the HPR and the actual input to the marker), then you are overpressurizing it.

The correct input for a G3 (post HPR) is 170-200psi.

Make sure that the dwell of the board is around 14-15.

Also, you may have a swelled or sticking o-ring. You may want to take out the bolt and check the o-rings. Also, give it a thorough re-lubing with some Dow33.

Sounds like bad bolt stick. G3 needs very little lube on the bolt. I use DOW33 with a little Gold Cup to thin it down a little more.

I have tried all the advice here. Right now I have the psi at 200 psi and dwell at 10. I changed a smaller oring on the front of the bolt as it seemed real stiff and that seemed to help. I remembered I had the gauge part from my geo's cp reg so I used it to preform on gun tests. I tried the higher dwell but the fps went down and the gun kicked harder. I tore down the bob long asa and drilled the hole for the pin a tad as it was sticking and not letting the gun degas im not sure if it helped anything else or not. I think the techt t bolt still has drag on there orings I ll get some different sizes to see if i can smooth it up a bit . I lubed the gun with dow 33. Right now it is shooting at 260-290 it starts at 290 and drops to 260 over 5-6 shots at 1 second intervals. If I wait 20 seconds it resets (I have the bolt stick function off for the tests). I hope I get this problem resolved soon or I'm going to get a clone for my gf instead, this gun is supposed to be simple. Thanks for all your help with this matter everyone I am willing to try anything to get this gun running smoothly.

Regardless of the kick, the symptoms (shot drop off) you are now describing are indicative of a dwell that is still too low.

If you have the TechT bolt engine (not just the bolt) have you tried purchasing a whole o-ring rebuild kit from TechT? Then the simple solution is to simply replace all the o-rings.

Also, have you tried swapping the HPR from a different gun? The factory ones are notoriously sensitive (and in some cases picky).

ive tried both the stock reg a cp reg and a aka 2 liter. I was sure the cp reg wasnt working right. It turned out not to be the regulator. I do have the tech t engine It is brand new. I got a new oring set it helped the oring on the front of the bolt but nowhere else. I tried the dwell at 8,10,12,and 14 like it was suggested but 10-12 is the sweet spot. Ive never had this much trouble with a spool gun before and I have built up quite a few even ions are easier to tune. thanks again for the help. I will do a sweep of the dwell again once I get the new oring for the tech t.

Got it fixed it turned out to be the oring sizes on the front and in the techt inner ring slowed the bolt down. I'm at 200 psi 10 dwell and 290 fps on a 10 in barrel. Thank you for everyone's help
