G3 bolt question

So I m a machinist and I notice that the g3 bolt is pretty heavy compared to the g4. I would imagine that this is in part because the g4 is machined further down the bolt so there is less material. Would it make since to machine the extra material out from the inside of the bolt to make it lighter, lower my dwell, and get a little less kick. Has anyone done this or thought of this?

If you count Tech-T then yes. I have a Tech-T bolt in one G3 and the bolt engine in another. Both have the stock board so I can't lower the dwell a lot. But I will say that either upgrade is well worth it. If you mess up the factory bolt the wost thing you'll have to do is find a new one.

Sorry I spend most of my time in the Cocker area. My G3 has turned into my backup gun. Not that it's a bad gun I just prefer the feel of a mech cocker for rec play.

I'm really beginning to belive my G3 is an oddity. I'm hearing how all these people have issues with their G3's and I've had almost none. In the 5 years I've owned mine all I've done is replace the solinoid once, replace the orings twice, clean the reg annually, clean the detents and eyes as needed, and clean the bolt/breach after every day of play. This is one of the most reliable guns I've ever owned.

Naa. In my experience, most of the time, it is user error that is the issue and the product gets the blame. I'm with you on this.....a Rev-I, FX, Threshold, 2 x G4s, 3x F8s, and 2x Fusions (F7) and I haven't run into any real major problems with a single one. I have actually purchased some of those cheap because someone else had a bad case of user error and swore it was broken. ~1/2 hour later in my hands and running juuuuuuust fine .
