G3 Problems

Just received my G3 and was really impressed. I have an '07 Fusion and an F8 and have had really good experiences with both. Now with that being said, my G3 came with a bad macroline fitting that didn't have a lock ring. No biggie, I put on another one. Next I aired it up but the gun wouldn't fire. I turned up the reg and it began to fire. But it would only fire about 10 times and then it would click but not cycle or fire. There seemed to be air leaking from between the grip frame and the top portion when I pulled the trigger. I pulled the bolt, checked all o-rings including the one inside the gun, lightly re-lubed everything and tried again. Same thing happens, fires about 10 times and then won't cycle. I tweaked on the reg again with no results. Has anyone had this problem? I'm hoping there is something I have overlooked. I really don't want to have to send it back, I want to shoot this puppy!! Any help would be appreciated.

Try upping the dwell first. It is the last 2 dip switches on the thresholds, not sure what it is on the g3. I know a bunch of threshold owners who have had to use either the highest possible dwell or next to highest to get it consistent.

If that doesn't fix your problem, there is one other thing I'd like you to try. This has happened to a couple of threshold owners. Sometimes the solenoid sticks, and sometimes the dwell helps with it. Try adjusting the regulator all the way off, so there is no pressure going to the gun. Then start increasing pressure while firing. (make sure the eyes are off so it will actually cycle). A lot of times this will reset the solenoid for you and work for a while after that. There is a thread on the dreaded site that has a video showing how easy it is to take apart the solenoid to clean & lube it. In my experience that has solved the problems.

I know the g3 and threshold are similar so hopefully that above will be helpful to you. Please let us know how it goes and what you find.

I had one come in to me on friday and the HPR wasnt even lubed and all the orings were pretty much toast.... it also just came out of the box that way.

I solved the problem and the gun is working fine now. I replaced a flat spotted o-ring on the back cap piece and reassembled everything. I worked the reg 1/4 turn at a time until the gun began to work. I shot it over the chrono and it shot +-5 with all shots in the 285-290 range. The stock barrel is very accurate. Everyone at the field tried it out and even after 2 cases of paint it was still in the 285-290 fps range. I didn't get a chance to check the effeciency due to the fact the gun was being passed around to everyone. I own an '07 Fusion and the F8, the G3 is now my favorite. Thank you to everyone for your responses concerning the problem.

Since the G3 and that new Nano thing by that copycat company are almost identical and some folks seem to be reporting some G3 problems out of the box that are uncharacteristic for DP guns of the past, I'm wondering if this gun isn't a test to see if guns made overseas for cheap can be a reasonable replacements for the guns DP built their reputation on? It was pretty rare to hear of a Fusion with a problem and the F8's seemed good as well. The Thresholds also seemed to be pretty good but the G3's seem to be getting a lot of complaints about fit/finish and problems out of the box. Dry HPR's and damaged o-rings out of the box should not come from a company like DP so whathas changed between 2007 and 2008?

I have been having a problem with my HPR on my F8 creeping and haven't been able to find a phone number to get in contact with DP to contact them. Can anyone help me out with the number. Thanks. (Sorry I know this isn't what this thread is about)

i have a Nano, wich is an actuall Liscensed version of the g3 made by DP for Inspire.
same gun but with different milling and a stock carbonfiberbarrel

the most common issues i've encountered is inconsistent velocity and massive drop of while firing. This is most often vcaused by bad batteries since theese guns seem to drain the cheaper ones quite fast.

the stock regulator is ok, but if you adjust it to far a small black seal on the bottom of the reactor may wrangle out of place and cause the gun to build up pressure imediately and cause major inconsistency. this is easily avoided by increasing the pressure SLOWLY in 1/4 turns at the time MAX

apart from those two issues the cure for most problems is relubing. Dow33 works great in the regulator but on the bolt and boltguide i would recomend hatersauce or Dye Slick.

and since i havent posted much since "old" mcb and i sont think anyone remembers me, i'll blame bad spelling and bad grammar on the fact that im swedish
