I started back in 1986 and the first time I played was with a BE nightmare, shop goggles and a gorilla mask. To this day I wish we could have those days back. I remember buying a Razorback thinking I had an awesome pump, then a paintball store opened in my town a couple of years later and they had semi's. Upgrading to a 68 special or a pmi 3 was unbelievable.

Fall "82 with Nelspots. There sure as heck wasnt anything state of the art back then. Eventually PGP's came on the scene the next year and we'd respring them.. The Sheridan based markers were the preferred upgradeable ones. McMurray's shop was busy doing mods and their Annihilator, Stan's Maurader, Gramps and Grizz going constant air and doing his KBS, the Mark II, Reblines, and Ninja Nightmares were cool. Line SI ruled, Carters were hard to get, Ducks even harder. SMG-60's were nuts too. Anything that required batteries was unimagineable. Micro switches, Pnuematics, computer boards..yeah right, c'mon. Same here I started in '85 there wasn't much that was old at the time, other than shooting BB guns or bottle rockets at each other. Tug

Started in 89 with rentals..WGP rangers, SL-68 2s, PGPs. My first gun was a spitfire. Top of the line as far as I'm concerned was the sterling. I remember the first time I was shot at by a SMG bulldog. Scary!

You have rain covers, elkhorn feeds, constant air, under cocking pumps and Termite Smith is holding a Termite marker with some type of hopper. You also have the first photo that I have ever seen of clothing adapted for paintball, back row 4th from right player has clothing sew to carry 10 round tubes. Not to correct you RJ but I think you meant 3rd from right back. That would be Mr. Yarnell Sr. His son is next to him and they usually had similar mods. Might be able to see in the shadows his topgear. Sr. stopped playing early 90's and moved to Las Vegas. That first year Dave Youngblood hosted the NPPL there I saw him wander around the tent. He was dressed casual and nobody knew who the gent was, except me. I went up to him and we chatted a bit. He was amazed at the PB scene's progression but seemed more pleased to be remembered. Really nice guy. The moustached guy 2nd left from bottom played with "Los Hombres" cant remember his name. He had custom tubetops too. I remember Termite made a loader from an actual oil can, that might be it. But your right, I agree. This pic is one of the best captured images of early state of the art mods. It's definitately Old School. Anton submitted a timeless piece here for all to enjoy. Gilly |

Thanks for the correction I miss counted backrow and missed "Los Hombres member" with tube mods. And oilcans were used to make the first hoppers I still have one. Best early state of the art circa mid 80's photo that I have seen with who's who of eastcoast airsmiths and hip hop in one photo. RJ |

I started with a sl68 old school was 007 and splatmasters then I got a p68 and when it became avalable had it changed over to a stroker {whish I still had it} after that a Cocker then tried a Canadian made Brass eagle Poison that kept going full auto on me and was a pain to clean so back to tipman for a Pro Am that I still own and use.

Forgot the most important marker of all the WGP Ranger that I bought new in 1992 and still use today at least once a month. Just ordered new parts for it from Bacci{ Don't know what I would do without the help and parts from Him} Thanks Bacci for being here to help use out.

I started around 96 , when there were spyders and carbines as far as the eye could see. Serious guys packed mags or cockers, and the fields all rented prolites. My first gun was the spyder compact with a 20 oz going straight down the middle of the gun. The old school guns were KP's and VM-68s. My buddy had a 68 special, which wasn't too common back then. Got my retro valve as soon as they came out, haven't looked back. Still use it in my pneumag. Also had a nova, which really is the only gun you can a space dildo and accurately describe it.
