I propose a new term: soccer injury

In light of it being used in this thread by Shiba Kun

radio cheaters

Soccer injury: to fake an injury, in the acting style of old silent films, much as some World Cup players have in 2010.

It's called diving, or taking a dive.

Soccer injury though sounds so much better. And no, NBA players take a dive. And its embarassing when they do it. What soccer players do goes far beyond any reasonable idea of "taking a dive".

In soccer yes it is diving, but in the NBA it is flopping. Players flop to sell charges and fouls but unlike in soccer where renown divers (Ronaldo) don't get calls, they have the craft to get the call.

Some nice flopping quotes
*"We're all floppers," Bulls forward P.J. Brown "We're all out there flopping. Some of us are better actors than others."

*"Flopping is an art," former All-Star Dominique Wilkins
*taken from "The greatest floppers in NBA history" by Thomas Neumann

So, instead of wiping, we can duck behind the bunker and smear a big handful of paint on our chest, come out rolling on the ground, and try to get the guy penalized for over shooting?

That's the spirit.

I dunno if it's a new term or not. Kinda like the player from Ghana hitting the ground sans-contact in the second half of their WC match against our boys.

HAHA, I had two teammates accidentally pull something like this off. As the story goes they were both behind enemy lines laying prone trying to get the drop on some guys when two opposing players spotted them. For some reason they first thought that the one they saw was injured/unconscious. The walk towards him calling out trying to get a response. However he just lays still while the other guy shot out the two "good samaritans". They ended up feeling a little bad about it and just called themselves out and walked out with the two guys, apparently they all had a good laugh about it.
