Why can't we get along?

I have a local field I love. It doesn't cater to the Tournament crowd as most of our business comes from weekend rentals and groups. I've worked there, I've helped out with scenario planning and am friends with the staff away from the field.

For the most part, the local established fields help each other out. If we're full to the max we refer business, if they need more paint then we sell them some, we've even had a local tournament series in discussion.

There seems to be a group of players in a corner of our state that just doesn't care if paintball thrives in our area. They troll threads on other forums created to inform people when the tournament teams are practicing, flame almost every post started by local members, and create multiple usernames when theirs are banned.

I can't see any reason they would do this other than to try to hurt business. It is a game to them. We've notified Moderators and Admins but they just keep letting them say whatever. We don't want to pull out of the site because it's a very popular site and new people would likely go there as opposed to other sites.

So what to do? I know there is at least one member on here from that area and hopefully this will bring a adult discussion as opposed to flaming.

tell them to show up or shut up, ask them it's an area site and if they're ever going to put money where their mouths are, either you gain business or lose useless posts, you can't lose.

I'm guessing you're talking about the NWA group?

I don't know but I know a lot of those guys personally from when I lived there. A lot of teams up that way. One team is quite young and some (not all) have bad attitudes. A couple guys on one team have (holier than though) attitudes.

All in all most of the guys in that area are pretty cool and not huge forum guys save for checking on tourneys and the like.

The owner of the local Pro Shop has been in the game for a LONG time, did the tourney thing and now runs a shop. Has a love for the old guns and when I lived there he held weekly get togethers for any body that wanted to show up, not just teams he sponsored.

Don't let the few "agglets" get to you.

It continues to astonished me how many dbags this game attracts. Forums seem to just make things worst by providing an unwilling audience to their opinions.

some solutions:
coordinate w/ friends for a private group at your local field.
private - invite only outlaw.
invite only facebook groups.

If you care about the forum, get lots of posters to ping the mods re. the trolls.

That's how my local state forum is. I go on maybe once every 3-4 months. The local board I was on is a ghost site because people just disappeared. I have a local group that has taken a few years to put together.

Has the store thought of putting together it's own forum? Giving somebody IP banning abilities would probably cut down on the shenanigans eventually.

I know that there is a local NWA forum. Or was when I was there.

Oh, they don't show up, they just harass online. My main problem is their sissy attitudes online. They'll spam our practice and scenario threads and call our field a "junkyard field" etc. Then when they get banned they'll start a new account.

Ip banning only works on people who don't know how to change it.
