This "ammo" has been around for years. Its been used for potted plants (since it absorbs water), it's been made into a toy (Orbeez), and even just decoration (we are using them in our center pieces for our wedding), and if you want to buy them you can buy them for very very cheap off of ebay. Having personally played with some, it takes a while to grow them.

I wouldn't recommend shooting them out of a paintball marker, they will explode and make a gooey mess. They are pretty bouncy, but if you throw them too hard they explode... and let me tell you, its not fun to try to sweep sticky, slimy gel bits off of the floor.

maybe cool for ten year olds looking for more firepower than nerf guns... except nerf guns are easier to use, and actually probably more fun.
