Got to mess with one before the local shop put his out, it's pretty much a 98 stuffed in a shiny body, and made centerfeed. Dry fired one a few times, I kind of want one, but I need more guns like I need... Something that I don't really need.

I work at the local paintball store and we got these in as soon as they were released, and I wasn't impressed. They shoot decently, but the outer plastic shell feels really weak. The inner shell (which is also plastic  ) is pretty durable, but you wouldn't want to run it without the outer shell as it looks horrible without it. Theoretically, companies could mold their own outer shells for them, which I think would be really cool, but I don't see it happening. Another problem I saw with them is that the barrel is threaded into a metal adapter that mounts onto the inner shell, but it's attached fairly loosely. When you shoot you can see the barrel wobble up and down. Obviously that can pose some serious accuracy problems, as well as the potential for barrel breaks. The last thing is that you're stuck with it being mech. Taking it apart shows that there is literally no room for an e-grip.

Bad leak from the valve/power tube to my ears. I wasn't about to field strip it - watch that video and you'll see why. On the upside, Tippy usually has good customer service so she should be covered.

I did think it handled pretty well, but without being able to try it on the field I couldn't say for sure.

Take the tippmann 98. Remove it's toughness and customization abilities.

You get, Gryphon.

In my opinion guns like the Gryphon or Cybrid shouldn't be on the market. If kids start with a s*** gun and it breaks, they're a lot less likely to get another and continue on in the sport.

Its a 79.00 gun alone,100.00 for a complete kit... IMHO,these are great starter packages. I have set up quite a few for sale at the local PB shop and have only had issues with 1. All were crono'ed before leaveing the store and were +- 5 and have yet to have any return.. Its just pretty much a 98 internals in a 79.00 shell... Tippmann still has one the best CS and warrenty.. I think they filled a void with entry level markers...And in 10 years hope to be shooting the owners of those that started off with these markers....
