Yeah...$12 watches that last 8 years or more on a battery, are waterproof, rugged, and can be used as bomb detonators. Oh, and also tell you the time when you look at them.

Why would you want a phone like that???

I've used my phone on the field a couple times, mostly to talk with my wife. Got bunkered once, and eliminated from a distance trying to get reception.

Exactly ... My phone is NOT a fashion statement. It's a tool. And I'm pretty rough on my tools.

I have a Samsung Rugby and had it on me on the field. It has taken good solid hits and does just fine.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 - Fully Rugged, Wireless Notebook PC
motorola barrage is the latest one. we get a lot of construction workers and other blue collar guys asking about them.

specs on the commando: Verizon Wireless G'zOne Commando specs - Phone Arena

has an 800mhz cpu (i dont know WHY phone arena doesnt list cpu speeds...) so youre looking at something running roughly at the same speed as an evo shift.

Yeah I wish they would port the video feed over to PC as well....but otherwise, on the PC is your tactical commander view.

I second the Otterbox vote. Just pop your existing phone in one of those and call it a day.

BTW - Battletac sucks in my opinion. Its slow and unresponsive. I wish it worked, the augmented reality idea is just priceless.

My teamates and I were recently checking out an app available on iPhone and Droid called TeamRadar. Not as feature rich, but works better IMO.

Will have to check out TeamRadar.

I noticed it was slow to respond as well....but then it is also still fairly new and beta
