A possible Cellphone for paintball?

I saw this and thought ... hmm with a rugged-ized phone I might actually carry it with me.

The Rugged Phone for When You Go Commando

95% of the time I leave my cell phone in the car. But occasional there's that 5% of the time I wish I could take it with me. Big games where you are trying to stay organized with a few people across massive, massive fields and multiple days. And the occasional time that you are waiting for an important call from someone who doesn't play paintball. (I know. Why would i want to take a call from someone like that?)

They've had those for a while. G'z one series for verizon has been around a few years. Motorola has had rugged phones for contractors for a long while.

I think it would be cooler to browse MCB in the middle of a big game with a Toughbook

I loved my Motorola phone. The damn thing was indestructible. I threw it down 2 flights of stairs and it didn't have a scratch on it.

Hmmm... write a LAND soldier App for Android... Let you know where your teammates are, mark opponent's positions on a group accessable map, be able to take photos and share with the group... How about streaming video to a server in the parking lot?

Damn the things we could do... <evil grin>

I saw a show on that system. So awesome what it can do, but might be just a touch too much for anything smaller than a big game.

I wonder if we could use the WiFi to create a dynamic "network" of devices that would not have to access the cellular carrier, but rather have them act as smart hubs. This would allow data to be repeated to other devices, data to be displayed and new data added to the stream...

its been done guys. in Europe. it works on almost any droid operating system. open source code too. BattleTac - MilSim GPS Tracking
